Hodl/Hodling
Hodl is one of crypto's most infamous meme and has become a common term.
Hodling, a misspelling of the word "holding," refers to a buy-and-hold strategy in the context of cryptocurrencies.
It originated from an infamous post on the bitcointalk forum named "I AM HODLING" from a drunk bitcoin investor ranting after the price of bitcoin dropped.
Many people inaccurately assume it's an acronym for "hold on for dear life." Although wrong, it's accurate. Crypto investors will often use HODL as a mantra when their cryptocurrencies of choice goes through dramatic swings, crashing 80-90+% without selling, believing desperately that it will rebound and rise even higher.
